What is "Tedako?"

"Tedako" derives from the honorific name given to King Eiso. King Eiso had brought such prosperity during his reign that Urasoe was once praised in song as "the land of the rising king."

"Tedako" means "child of the sun," but also represents how the sun rises reassuringly over the eastern horizon, shines down dispersing the darkness in the world, and revitilizes all life.

EVENTS

①The Picture Scrolls of the Three Great Urasoe Kings

A large-scale dance and taiko performance depicting the history of the three great kings of urasoe (King Shunten, King Eiso, King Satto). The main performers are from Chijinshuuwakiti-da, a local Taiko and Traditional Arts Group that is also well known throughout the prefecture.

②Tedako Performance Festival

The festival will be showcasing local youth Eisa performance, traditional local arts (lion dance, staff fighting dance), dancing, baton, and many more!

③Guest Live Concerts

We've invited popular bands to perform live! You're sure to have a blast!

④Other Events

Fireworks show, 2018 Tedako Lady Crowning Ceremony, Citizen's "Kachashi" Dance, various tradition arts performances showcased by the Cultural Association, Dance Contests, Eisa performances by local daycare centers, etc.
