Japanese seismic scale

The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) publishes a table summarizing the JMA seismic intensity scale at the following link.

In the event of an earthquake	Take shelter underneath a table, etc. Protect yourself from falling furniture and objects If possible, put out any fires and gas Open all doors and windows and secure an exit
Post 1 ~ 2 minutes	Quickly put out any fires Confirm safety of family Wear shoes to prevent injury from broken glass Prepare an evacuation kit (flashlight with batteries, rations, bottled water, important documents, first aid kit, cellphone, radio, etc.)
Post 3 minutes	Confirm safety of neighbors (especially the elderly and those living alone) Be prepared for aftershocks
Post 5 minutes	Listen to the radio for information and updates Refrain from using your cellphone Evacuate the building if it is unsafe Confirm the nearest evacuation shelter
