What: Filing for 2020 Tax Returns
When: February 16 to March 15, weekdays from 9:00AM to 4:00PM. Special weekend (Sunday) filing dates are planned for February 21 and 28 for those who cannot visit during weekdays.
Where: Urasoe City Hall, 9th floor
During this period, please understand that City Hall will be busier than normal.
In addition, due to COVID-19, the application period for income tax returns will be extended to April 15. Income tax returns can be filed at the Kitanaha Tax Office in Miyagi, Urasoe.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, it is strongly advised for residents to mail in their tax papers. All documents should be checked for errors and stamped or signed where necessary and sent to the following address:
- 2021 tax form for resident and health insurance tax
- Photocopy of personal ID (e.g. resident card, driver`s license, etc.)
- Other necessary documents (photocopy)
- Income statements
- Tax withholding statements (gensen choshu-hyo)
- Documents certifying your eligibility for tax deductions (e.g. medical receipts, disability handbook, etc.)
- Wear a mask to City Hall
- Check your temperature before leaving home (fevers 37.5°C or higher, stay home)
- Fill out your tax forms completely
- Should City Hall be crowded, consider returning at a later date
